These pictures were taken during a March 2004 vacation in Hawaii. We stayed at the same beach resort — the Mauna Kea Beach — that we had enjoyed so much with the boys in 1993. Unfortunately, it seemed a little long in the tooth, and no longer glamorous and stylish enough to make us want to come back. The food was good at the restaurants, but not spectacular; and the place was dampened (literally!) by a huge storm that had swept through the island just hours before we arrived. But we had a good time, and relaxed … as the photos show, I was still VERY heavy, having gotten only a couple months into a relatively serious diet… the big weight loss came later in the summer, mostly as a result of the multiple surgeries for my aortic aneurysm.
